In March 2020, Firecom was able to supply new walkie-talkies to the special investigating officers of the Municipality of Stadskanaal. After a successful pilot in December 2019, the Municipality of Stadskanaal has chosen Firecom as a supplier of reliable means of communication. In particular, the fast communication and flexible deployment of a rental fleet made the choice for Firecom easy. “We have recently also been represented in the North from our location in Drachten,” says Jeroen Adema, Firecom's sales engineer. “These kinds of small things ensure that we can help customers immediately with questions or additional orders, we see that it has added value to be locally anchored”.
The municipality of Stadskanaal employs Extraordinary Investigation Officers (BOAs). They are committed to a safe, clean and liveable municipality. They perform tasks in the field of safety, local order and parking enforcement. They check whether people comply with the rules and do not commit violations, such as stray dogs, nuisance from dog poo, (litter) waste, graffiti and use of alcohol on the street. BOAs are also used at major events. They carry out inspections under the Beverage and Catering Act.
The BOAs use the European-wide WAVE OnCloud network of Motorola and Firecom. With these walkie-talkies it is possible to communicate with each other at lightning speed via 3G or 4G. Extensive functionalities such as a control room application, text messages and the use of apps are part of the standard service. Via the control room application it is possible to view live locations of colleagues.
