The Kenwood ProTalk series has several perfectly functioning radios. We can understand that it is not easy for you to see what the differences between the radios that the ProTalk series really are. Therefore, the similarities and differences between the TK-3501, PKT-23E, de TK-3601D and the TK-3701DE walkie-talkies described below to make your choice easier.

The differences between the radios

License:

First of all, all radios of the Kenword ProTalk series are license-free. Radios have been used for communication between people at great distances for decades. These radios are used in the PMR band (446 MHz). No license is required for this tire. The maximum transmission power of these radios is 0,5 watts. If the range of the license-free radio is not sufficient, you can use professional radios with a license from the Telecom Agency.

The size:

Second, there are differences between the Feature ProTalk series in terms of format. The Kenwood TK-3501 and the TK-3701DE walkie-talkies are medium in size and weigh 210 grams. PKT-23E  two-way radio is the smallest in the series and weighs 110 grams. The Kenwood TK-3601D is also small and weighs 160 grams.

The range:

Third, there are also differences in the range of the Kenwood ProTalk series of radios. The TK-3701D has a range of approximately 1000 meters or 10 floors, making it the widest range of the Kenwood ProTalk series. The PKT-23E has an estimated range of approximately 500 meters or 5 floors, making it the smallest range of the Kenwood ProTalk series. The estimated range of the TK-3501 and the TK-3601D corresponds. Both Kenwood radios have an estimated range of up to approximately 700 meters or 7 floors.

To communicate:

Finally, the radios of the Kenwood ProTalk series also differ in terms of communication. So it is with the TK-3501 and the PKT-23E only possible to communicate analog. With the TK-3601D and the TK-3701DE is able to communicate both analog and digital. To be prepared for the future, we recommend switching to digital communication. If the existing fleet consisting of the PKT-23E or for TK-3501 If it is time to replace it, it is wiser to purchase a radio that offers the possibility of communicating digitally with an eye to the future.

Wat nu?

It is not necessary to immediately replace the entire existing fleet at once because the TK-3401D, TK-3601D en TK-3701DE radios can also communicate analog. These radios can communicate both analog and digital. This allows you to enter the new fleet, consisting of the TK-3701DE or for TK-3601D, temporarily functioning through analog communication. Please note that analog and digital communication do not go together. When the entire old fleet, which could only communicate analog, has been replaced, it can easily be converted to digital communication. Ultimately, communication can then take place digitally. With this step you are migrated to the digital standard and ready for the future with your new fleet of radios.

The differences between analog and digital communication

In addition, to make clear what the differences are between analog and digital communication, the differences are also described below:

  • Analog radios are cheaper than digital radios, but are less and less available.
  • Analog radios can be monitored. On the other hand, digital walkie-talkies are not easy to eavesdrop on.
  • Digital radios have better voice quality compared to the voice quality of the analog radios.
  • Digital radios have more range than the analog radios.
  • With digital walkie-talkies, background noises are filtered out, resulting in a clearer sound.
  • Digital walkie-talkies are the future.
