In the east of Gelderland, near the German border, lies the beautiful municipality of Aalten. It has over 27.000 inhabitants. The municipality consists of the 2 main centers Aalten and Dinxperlo, the fortified town of Bredevoort and a number of small centers. For its in-house emergency response (BHV), the municipal organization has been using Firecom's BHVpieper application for the past two years. The company from Lekkerkerk has developed this 'BHVpieper' app especially for the registration and alerting of emergency response staff in medium-sized organizations. After installation on their smartphone, all employees can call a group of emergency response team members at the touch of a button.

“At the moment about 60 emergency response staff are active at the municipality of Aalten,” says Laurens Hengevelt. He manages the application within the municipality of Aalten. Only the emergency response team members who work at the town hall and the municipal office can be called up via the app. The field staff do not use the application because they are often spread throughout the municipality.

The municipality also uses the automatic registration system, which works via GPS. “This is a requirement to be able to monitor how many emergency workers are in the building at any given time. In the beginning this still caused some problems, but at the moment we are certainly satisfied ”, says Hengevelt. According to him, it has never happened that no one was available after a report. “We normally have more than enough emergency response team members in both buildings.
