There are a few different options for alerting emergency response organizations. In the overview below, we would like to give you an idea of the various options. We start with the simplest product.

Emergency call system with numerical codes or only a flashlight

The simplest way of alerting is via an alarm receiver with a small display or LED light. In the event of an alarm, the operator sends a report to the pagers. This notification is often limited to a number code or flashlight. Think of the Omikron Callhelp 400 calling system. You can send a 3 digit code to the emergency response team members. You can make various arrangements about the numerical code in advance. For example, a number 9 stands for a test. Within the emergency response organization, for example, you can use the following classification:

  • Fire alarm
  • First aid
  • Resuscitation
  • Evacuation
  • Bomb threat
  • Notify reception
  • Test notification

The guest calling systems for the catering industry also fall within this category.

Calling system with simple functions

The next step is an emergency response call system with the option to send text messages. The dispatcher can send reports to the emergency response organization from a central location. This can usually be done in two different ways. Via a hotkey or via the supplied keyboard. For example, after pressing a hotkey, the system automatically sends the text “Fire alarm” to all receivers (group 99). Additional information can be sent to the pager at a later time.

These systems can sometimes also be linked to a fire panel via I / O contacts or ESPA 4.4.4.

Calling system with extensive functions

This category of calling systems has been available since the 90s. They are comprehensive care systems with options for location determination, linking and automatic translations from other care systems. In contrast to other systems, these systems are often not yet available on an IP basis. The systems are very extensive, but they are getting old. On the other hand, they are fully monitored and have an option to comply with NEN2575. See below.

Call system in accordance with NEN2575

If a paging system must comply with NEN2575, you will have to deal with a multitude of requirements. The new NEN2575: 4 describes the exact configuration of a calling system. For example, the system uses EN54-4 approved power supplies, has an ESPA coupling and detects almost all possible faults. Finally, the system checks itself almost every minute for correct operation. These systems are only installed if the legislation requires this.
