What exactly is a two-way (2-way) alarm? This is a name that is becoming increasingly common within the fire service and safety regions.
The fire brigade in the Netherlands is alerted via P2000. The employees of the fire brigade in operational service have a P2000 alarm receiver with him. The alarm pager goes off when there is an alarm for their function. The fire brigade then rushed volunteers to the barracks to get out. Many people used to work in the place where they also lived. In general, there were always enough volunteers to get out. Nowadays it is no longer self-evident that there are enough volunteers. Volunteers live in place X and work in place Y.
The emergency room gives an alarm via P2000 and will then have to wait for the alarmed vehicle to register. Two things can happen from then on. The vehicle pulls out towards the incident, but it can also be concluded that there are too few fire brigade volunteers.
It takes about 4 to 5 minutes between the alarm and the turning out of the fire engine. These are precious minutes when help is actually needed. If the vehicle reports to the emergency center and then informs the dispatcher that the vehicle cannot turn out, everything will be done again. The dispatcher searches via barracks order table the first next vehicle. Unnecessary assistance time is lost here, which is not necessary.
By using a two-way pager, it is no longer necessary to wait. With a two-way pager, the volunteer still gets a call through his P2000 pager, but now they can immediately indicate that they are coming on or that they are rejecting the alarm. Within 30 seconds, the operator on his external screen has a signal that it is on fire engine can pull out with enough volunteers. If there are not enough volunteers, the operator gives an alarm for the second vehicle via the barracks sequence table, saving valuable time.
