A paging system can be used to quickly alert multiple people. After the alarm, the user is warned by a beep and / or vibration signal.

The system generally consists of transmitters and receivers. In most cases the message is sent wirelessly via the POCSAG protocol to the alarm receivers. The POCSAG signal consists of a RIC code and a message. If the RIC code in the receiver is correct, he will show the message.

The biggest advantage of the POCSAG protocol is its very high reliability. The system does not use external networks or infrastructure. POCSAG is ideal for use in emergency situations.

Transmitter

There are several devices that can be used as transmitters. For emergency response applications, we usually use an operating station with keyboard. A message can be sent quickly via the keyboard. In addition, it is possible to manually send more information. In some cases the operating station is equipped with alarm inputs (potential free contact) or an RS232 port. Via the RS232 port it is possible to connect to a building management system or fire panel. A commonly used protocol is the TAP or COMP protocol.

The possible channels are:

  1. Operator station
  2. Emergency button
  3. Motion detector
  4. Door contact
  5. Neck transmitter
  6. Fire detectors
  7. Water detectors
  8. Receivers

The recipient shows the programmed message after it has been sent. For example, the receiver will beep and vibrate. This is especially nice during calamities. You will always be warned. The system is therefore very reliable and you will not miss any notifications. There are different types of receivers:

  1. Portable receiver (beeper)
  2. Marquee
  3. Relay receiver (for external control)

Applications

Calling systems are used in various industries. Below are a few examples:

  1. Alerting of in-house emergency services
  2. Detection of visitors / traffic
  3. Alerting the aggression team
  4. Message display of technical or fault messages
  5. Display of messages from fire panel.
  6. Sending emergency messages from the elderly
  7. Alerting of on-call officers
  8. Alarms at production lines
  9. Detecting equipment
