Description of the Icom IC-M87 ATEX

The IC-M87 ATEX version complies with the 94/9 / EC ATEX directive. This version is suitable for use in hazardous locations on land or at sea, such as oil rigs, tankers, etc. This version has a built-in voice scrambler with 32 codes for private communication. The IC-M87 meets the needs of both business and industrial users who require a waterproof marine two-way radio and simple PMR transceiver. This ATEX approved IC-M87 radio provides two-way communication with safety approval, and explosion and fire prevention in specified hazardous locations.

The classification of admission is II2G EEx ib IIA T3.
Ensure that the ATEX rating of the IC-M87 ATEX meets the intended site of use.

Robust, compact and lightweight body
The IC-M87 measures just 62 x 97 x 39mm and weighs 290g (including the BP-227AX). The rugged one-piece aluminum chassis is designed for MIL standard requirements.

Waterproof construction
The IC-M87 is waterproof to IPX7 * and is designed for use in extreme conditions such as thunder, high humidity and rapid temperature changes. * (1m depth for 30 minutes)

Easy operation
A clear large clear LCD screen (30 x 8 x 14 mm) and the buttons with background control provide instant recognition of information and ensure reliable communication in all lighting conditions. The large volume knob and clearly labeled push buttons ensure easy and efficient operation at all times, whether at sea or on shore.

Standard Lithium-Ion battery
The IC-M87 comes standard with the BP-227AX 1700 mAh Li-Ion battery. It provides a long operating time of up to 23 hours *, without the 'memory effect' of the battery. * Duty cycle Tx: Rx: standby = 5: 5: 90

Waterproof speaker microphone, HM-138
An optional speaker microphone, HM-138, has a waterproof construction according to IPX7. The HM-138 is an approved accessory for ATEX use.

Built-in speech scrambler
The ATEX model has a built-in 32-code voice scrambler, compatible with the UT-112.

22 programmable channels for land use
The IC-M87 is suitable for both maritime and PMR applications. A simple push of a button switches the used frequency band between sea and land channels. Each PMR channel is programmable * between wide / narrow (25 / 12,5 kHz or 20 / 12,5 kHz) channel spacing and CTCSS and DTCS tone signaling are built-in.
* Optional cloning software, CS-M88 / M87 and cloning cable are required for programming.

Fast charger available
The BC-152 desk charger can be mounted on the wall or placed on a table, for example. The BC-152 is suitable for various power sources, such as an AC adapter, connection via a cigarette lighter socket, or with a DC power supply. An optional fast desktop charger BC-119N and multi-charger BC-121N are also available to recharge the IC-M87 in 2,5 - 3 hours. (The AD-100 charger adapter is required for this).
