Are emergency response radios mandatory?

No, emergency response radios are not mandatory. Every company is obliged by the working conditions law or to take measures for internal assistance within an organization. Company emergency response officers (BHVs) are trained to combat accidents and small fires within the organization. The emergency response team members must also be able to evacuate.

Working Conditions Act

The Working Conditions Act states that companies are obliged to take effective measures in the field of emergency response. There are several ways to organize this. The number of emergency response team members and the necessary resources are geared to the number of employees and the risks within an organization.

Resources

If you have an emergency response organization, you must provide these people with a good education and the right resources to perform their tasks. There are several things to keep in mind with regard to BHV communication tools.

Alarms & Communication

If the organization is very small and the workplace is clear, you will have no advantages when purchasing communication tools. If your company has several floors, departments or buildings, means of communication are crucial to make the relief work successful.

1. Alerting

Can you quickly reach the emergency response team anywhere, anytime? An alarm system ensures a very fast alarm for the emergency response organization. The alarm of the emergency response organization starts with a clear report to the reception or an external security company. The number must be clear, for example 555. If someone in the organization calls this number, the reporter will immediately contact the reception. The reception can accept the report and activate the alarm system. You can use an emergency response call system with wireless alarm receivers for this. Optionally, it is also possible to send the notification directly via SMS. An alarm receiver will beep and vibrate loudly. An SMS can be missed, so you prefer to use wireless alarm receivers.

The emergency response team members can possibly be alerted in groups so that the entire emergency response organization does not have to take action. After the report, the emergency response team can go directly to the incident location, but it is also possible to collect centrally.

2. Communication

After the alarm, the head of the emergency response team (ERDF) must be able to stay in contact with the emergency response team leaders (PBHV) and company emergency response officers (BHV). Emergency response is always a team effort. The head of EROs are at the top of this organization. One or more team leaders are under the Head of BHV. These team leaders have a team of approximately 4 emergency response team members under them. A walkie-talkie is an indispensable means of communicating in a group. A walkie-talkie is robust, easy to use and supports group conversations. The walkie-talkies can take a beating and ensure that everyone is aware of the various activities. Optionally, it is possible to use different talk groups, which creates more peace and quiet in the different talk groups.
